ASC is currently looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Data Specialist to join our ASC Central Services team to provide pro-active IT generalist and data management support across our global organisation.
The ASC cannot operate without keeping up-to-date (public) records of certification statuses and audit information. To do this we are constantly developing and maintaining multiple, overlapping systems. We work with online platforms hosted by external software companies and by developing and integrating new systems in-house.
We are looking for is an IT generalist with strong technical skills as well as strong communication skills. Someone who can translate business needs into IT requirements and who can explain technical details clearly to the non-technical. Someone who enjoys creating the specifications for a new form on our platform, bug fixing something that came up in a script you wrote earlier, tweaking a view in SQLServer as requested by the GIS coordinator before going into a meeting 3rd party stakeholders about a large new data exchange project. We are especially interested in candidates with good experience in PHP and WordPress plugin development.
The ASC data team is always working on several projects large and small and the Data Specialist we are looking for can keep up with all of them while always keeping an eye on the bigger picture to ensure interoperability between all our systems and does so accurately, proactively and with a good sense of humour.
You will be joining the charity at an exciting time of growth to pro-actively lead actions on a daily basis including,
- Working on multiple projects in multiple environments, always able to offer the best technical advice
- Develop and maintain dashboards
- Development and maintenance of the data infrastructure
- Ensuring continued interoperability between systems
- Protecting data quality and effective data management
- Addressing ad-hoc data and reporting needs
- Providing support for internal stakeholders
- Solving critical issues in a timely manner
Are you the person we need?
You will be a motivated and resilient data expert, with a willingness to learn and develop with our organisation. To be successful in this role, it will be beneficial to have good knowledge of SQL, Python, PHP/JS/Wordpress etc. and potentially even Microsoft Teams admin, Monday.com or Tableau / similar (but this would be is nice to have). We are especially interested in candidates with good experience in PHP and WordPress plugin development.
We will need you to be fluent in written and spoken English both any additional language skill will be seen as a great addition! You must be eligible to live and work in the UK / Netherlands or other ASC established region for this role.
You will be an excellent multi-tasker, with great organisational skills who is able to pro-actively collaborate and engage people at all levels, both internally and externally.

The ASC works across different time zones so the pattern of hours may vary according to operational needs. Some domestic and international travel and overnight stays may be required occasionally for events like our team / all-staff retreats.
