ASC Training offer for auditors

We provide online training courses for the ASC Farm Standard, ASC existing species standards and the ASC Feed Standard for auditors working with our accredited CABs.

Information about the different learning paths, as well as course dates, fees and other key points are available below.

ASC Farm Standard

Launching on 1st May 2025, the ASC Farm Standard aligns the twelve existing ASC species standards into one global standard, bringing greater consistency to requirements across all species covered by ASC Farm Certification Programme.

The Standard sets responsible practices for global seafood farming. Its impact-based sustainability requirements cover animal welfare, farm management, human rights and environmental stewardship for fish, farm, people and the planet. You can find out more here.

To support the delivery of the Standard, ASC is introducing new elements to the training programmes, including:

  • Free, online modules for Programme Managers to get up to speed with the new ASC Certification and Accreditation Requirements (CAR), and assurance systems and tools.
  • A qualification for Management System auditors to focus on ASC Farm Standard Group certification to complement Environmental and Social auditor qualifications.
  • An adjustment to the training scope for Environmental auditors from species-specific to production system and finfish/shellfish specific. (see Table 1 below)

Table 1: ASC Farm Standard: training scope for environmental auditors

A two-year transition period and implications for auditors

The ASC Farm Standard will become effective on August 1st 2025.  From this date, ASC will start accepting audit announcements against the ASC Farm Standard.

Recognising the need for farms to transition to the new ASC Farm Standard, it will only become mandatory on May 1st 2027. From this date, all audit announcements must be against the ASC Farm Standard.

Auditor training on the Standard will follow a gradual approach:

  • 2025: Only ASC Farm Standard equivalent training will be available for auditors who are already qualified to audit against one or more of the existing ASC species standards (see here)
  • 2026: New auditors can access the ASC Farm Standard learning paths. Already qualified auditors can access scope extensions learning paths.

Auditors training courses on the species standards

Our auditors training courses on the species standards combine:

  1. Online courses with live webinars and exams
  2. Online full self-study modules

Both types of courses are offered in the ASC online learning platform.

  1. ONLINE COURSES WITH LIVE WEBINARS AND EXAMS

The calendar below shows the date when the self-study material will be published, the date of the live webinars (mandatory attendance) and the date of the live exam online. Please consider that some of the dates might change.

To register: accredited CABs only can register their auditors via the MyASC platform. Please register only if attendance of the live webinar and exam on the indicated dates is possible. ASC will send an invoice for the course fee. Registration and payment must be completed before the live webinar. The registration is only confirmed once the course fee payment is received by ASC.

Fee 2025: 800 euros per course per participant.

Number of participants per course: ASC considers a minimum number of participants for the training course to take place. ASC reserves the right to cancel the training should this minimum amount not be reached. In that case, the course will be offered again during the year and the paid fees will be reimbursed.

To guarantee quality and interactive courses, ASC sets also a maximum number of participants per course. The available spots are assigned on a “first come, first served basis” based on the date in which ASC receives the fee payment.

Exam: the exams are conducted live online and through a proctoring tool so to assess the identity of the person taking the exam.

Course certificate: Before an auditor can receive the certificate of completion of any of our standard courses, not only the exam should be succesfully passed with a 7/10 grade, but the CAR self-study module needs to be completed and the fee invoice must be paid.
