Consultation on the new ASC Certification and Accreditation Requirements (CAR)
The CAR is a document which outlines the assurance requirements and processes that will support the ASC Farm Standard and the ASC Feed Standard certification programmes.
A consultation is now live to understand CABs’ and other key stakeholders’ views on these changes.
With this revision, all four assurance documents (Farm & Feed CAR and Farm & Feed RUoC) will be streamlined into one consolidated document.
Key changes include:
- Streamlining the audit process; from application to certification.
- Integration and simplification of Group Requirements.
- Update to critical non-conformity actions.
- Amends to auditor and CAB personnel competency.
- Amended unannounced audit programme that is based on number of Clients.

CAR documentation is being streamlined into one consolidated document
The CAR document will be used by Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) to understand the accreditation, assessment and certification process, and by farms and to understand the assessment and certification process requirements for each respective standard.
Currently, there are four certification documents: the ASC Farm CAR, the ASC Feed CAR, and the ASC Requirements for Unit of Certification (RUoC) for farms and feed mills respectively. With this revision, all four documents will be streamlined into one consolidated document. The aim of this revision is to create efficiency in the audit and certification process by removing duplication and reducing complexity, where possible.
The new version of the CAR will become effective in 2025.
