Species Extension Project: Jade perch
In 2021, the ASC Board identified and approved several species to be added to the ASC programme, including jade perch (Scortum barcoo). This species was evaluated in 2022 for compliance with the ASC requirements for inclusion in the Scope Extension Project and eventually in the ASC Farm Standard.
The addition of jade perch to the ASC Farm Standard is currently paused due to lack of sufficient scientific data and producer input. These elements are needed for the development of the white paper and for setting species-specific metrics according to the Metrics Methodology. ASC will resume this project after enough supplementary information has been collected. We invite stakeholders involved in the jade perch aquaculture sector to provide input through the Data Submission Portal. Stakeholders will be notified about the next steps of this project through official ASC channels.
