March 20, 2025
ASC has a busy and exciting schedule for its team of experts attending the Seafood Expo Global Barcelona event in May as it shares details of key announcements, panel discussions and more.
The key event at Seafood Expo Global for Aquaculture Stewardship Council this year is the launch of the ASC Farm Standard. Join the free live event ‘The Standard is Changing…for Fish, Farm, People, and Planet’—on Wednesday, 7 May at 2pm CET in Room CC5.1.
CEO Chris Ninnes said, “Seafood Expo Global is always a great event and one we look forward to every year. This year will be our busiest year ever at the show, with numerous collaborations and announcements over the three days.
“It’s an exciting time as we launch the ASC Farm Standard which is the culmination of years of innovation and industry collaboration. We truly believe the Farm Standard will accelerate change towards more sustainable seafood production worldwide.
“I encourage everyone to join us at our launch event to hear from our experts, engage with us and ask any questions.”
ASC collaborations
In addition to the launch of the Farm Standard, ASC is collaborating with partners in panel discussions.
Thursday, 8 May at 10.45am
Chris Ninnes is joining Jim Cannon of Sustainable Fisheries Partnership for ‘The Future of Aquaculture is Now: Seafood Sustainability and Stewardship Legends Share their Visions, Predictions, and a New Roadmap for the Sector’ – an interactive dialogue with the two seafood stalwarts about the future of seafood farming, how the industry can drive more responsible production, and the role of certification programmes in advancing these priorities.
Wednesday, 7 May at 4.30pm
Aisla Jones, ASC Feed Engagement & UK Markets Manager will join a session led by Donau Soy, ‘Implementing the EU Regulation on Deforestation-Free Supply Chains in Aquafeed’. The session will explore responsible sourcing of plant ingredients and how the EUDR requirements relate to aquaculture supply chains and what steps companies are taking to achieve compliance. The discussion will also highlight how standards and certification can be used as a tool in supporting EUDR and Deforestation/Conversion Free reporting and disclosure requirements.
