ASC Feed Standard v1.1 Consultation

Survey available in English and Spanish

The changes are:

  1. A new greenhouse gas (GHG) disclosure indicator requiring the reporting of species-specific data (learn more in our GHG Calculator Tutorial)
  2. A new requirement to report GHG data using both relative mass and economic allocation calculation methods (learn more in our GHG Calculator Tutorial)
  3. The cut-off date requiring no sourcing of plant raw materials from deforested or converted land is to be set at 31 December 2020.

These substantive changes are limited to those which need to happen urgently, either:

  • to align feed to farm GHG reporting data with the new Farm Standard requirements, or;
  • to align with EU deforestation legislation requirements.

More detail on these changes can be found here – available in English and Spanish. Prior to participating, please review the explainer and summary of proposed changes.

As part of ASC’s commitment to transparency, consultation feedback on standards is made public and accessible on the ASC website. ASC will publish only the name and affiliation of those who submitted feedback, but it will not attribute individual comments in any way.

Wider changes are being made to the ASC Feed Standard and relevant documentation

The ASC Certification and Accreditation Requirements (CAR) contains assurance requirements for ASC Standards. ASC is developing a new CAR version 3.0.

CAR 3.0 will include assurance requirements for both Feed and Farm programmes. Assurance requirements currently contained in the Feed Requirements for the Unit of Certification (RUoC) will be included in the new CAR, and the RUoC will no longer be used.

So that feed mills can see all their requirements in one document, technical requirements for feed mills currently held in the RUoC will be incorporated into the updated ASC Feed Standard.

The updated ASC Feed Standard v1.1 will become effective at the same time as the new CAR 3.0 in 2025
