First ASC Certified Dog Treats Launched by Tower Pet Products UK

Tower Pet Products UK Ltd., a pet treat manufacturer, has launched the first ASC Chain of Custody certified treats for dogs.

The Sea Treats Salmon Jerky dog treats were introduced at the biggest dog show in the world, Crufts 2016, and became the world’s first ASC certified dog rewards on the market.

The Salmon Jerky dog treat was developed in cooperation with Tower Pet Products and the major UK pet retailer Pets Corner, and was released under label range ”Hooked” in packaging featuring the ASC logo.

”Our business is committed to sourcing responsibly with the ASC certification following our 2015 MSC certification of our Whitefish Jerky dog treats. Tracy added, ”We chose the ASC certification for our Salmon Jerky dog treat to underpin our ethos and mission to source fully traceable, quality raw materials for manufacture. Our policy is to only work with responsible suppliers who as seafood companies have the technical expertise and traceability to ensure we receive top quality raw materials which we can trace back to the farm. We wanted to prove to our customers that we are a brand they can trust.”

The ASC certified 100% natural Sea Treats Salmon Jerky dog treat is made of salmon skins, which originate from ASC certified processors. The skins, a nutritious part of the fish which would otherwise be underused, are left over from fish processed for human consumption. The salmon skins are air-dried slowly to enable the healthy omega 3 and 6 oils to remain while retaining a distinctive crunch, creating a tasty treat for dogs.

The company is committed to using materials which are safe, traceable and sustainable. They will continue to use sustainable ingredients and production methods whenever possible and Tower Pets Products hope to develop more products featuring ASC certified ingredients in the future.

Sea Treats were voted the “Best UK Pet Product” by the Pet Industry Federation in 2015.
